A partnership is bringing literacy to life for children through hands on learning this Easter season.

Jill McRae of United for Literacy says the not-for-profit organization continues to support educational groups by providing resources and engaging programming. During the Easter event at the Schreiber Public Library, McRae led a series of literacy based activities designed to blend learning with play.

Children participated in themed activity booklets and interactive games, including a ring toss that incorporated counting skills. Other activities encouraged kids to track and compare the number of Easter eggs they collected, reinforcing basic math concepts in a fun, accessible way.

“This is our third year partnering with the library,” McRae said, noting the strong alignment between the two organizations. “Our goals are the same; it’s all about supporting children through literacy and learning.”

The collaboration highlights how community organizations can work together to create meaningful educational experiences outside the classroom. By combining resources and expertise, United for Literacy and the Schreiber Public Library continue to foster a love of reading and learning among young participants. Every child and even the parents were expressing how they could not wait until next year’s Easter Event.
